Elvstrøm Sails takes modern sailing to the next level with their newest development of the state-of-the-art EPEX membrane technology.
With a combination of the advanced EPEX patented technology and cutting-edge material science, the new EPEX nano-structure with a minimum of layers is a ultra-light, yet durable sail, that provides the club racing champions and the demanding cruising sailor with a new set of soft and smooth alternatives.
Product Development Manager from Elvstrøm Sails, Flemming Christensen explains;
“This is truly a unique evolvement of our EPEX technology, that we have worked intensely on developing. One of the very interesting new features is the use of flat-spread carbon fibers and an integrated carbon filament, Power Absorption Strips™. The flat carbon fiber is a huge step forward in sail making and we are excited to see the first product in our new generation.”
With the new generation of flat carbon fibres and integrated carbon filament reinforcements the EPEX nanno features a lighter and thinner core structure, with no compromise on stretch and shape.
The membrane is significantly lighter than the lightest taffeta membrane. The polyester surface provides general tear and wear protection, resulting in a more durable sail than typical racing membranes with no outer protection.
With EPEX nanno we are able to offer a light, yet strong sail, and with a soft surface”, CEO Niels Bjerregaard from Elvstrøm Sails explains. “For performance mono- as well as multihulls!”
